Call for Applicants: iN-Net 2027 Policy Fellowship

The International Nitrogen Network (iN-Net) is accepting applications for the 2027 iN-Net Policy Fellowship, beginning in January 2027. iN-Net is an NSF-funded initiative (Award #2412593) supporting policy-relevant research and collaboration to help countries halve nitrogen waste by 2030.

Past Policy Fellows have completed placements with iN-Net partner networks including:

  • UNEP Nitrogen Working Group (NWG)

  • Taskforce on Reactive Nitrogen (TFRN)

  • Global Partnership on Nutrient Management (GPNM)

In 2027, Fellows will be matched with participating policy-focused partner networks based on host priorities, project needs, and applicant fit. Fellows will contribute to ongoing policy priorities while developing a defined project and high-impact outputs, such as a policy brief, white paper, report, or potentially a publishable paper.

Benefits: $1,000 honorarium at the start of the term, mentorship from the host network and iN-Net, and support to attend the annual iN-Net workshop.

Eligibility: Applicants should:

  1. Be Early Career Researchers*; and

  2. Have experience or interest in nitrogen-related policy, governance, science–policy communication, agriculture, circular-economy approaches, or interdisciplinary environmental work.

*Early Career Researchers include individuals who are currently students, post-docs, associate professors, or at equivalent levels in their career.
